The Government says….

'Effective advocacy can transform the lives of people with learning disabilities by enabling them to express their wishes and aspirations and make real choices. Advocacy helps people with learning disabilities put forward their views and play an active part in planning and designing services which are responsive to their needs. This applies to people with severe and profound disabilities and to the less severely disabled.'
'Valuing People' Government White Paper

Entelechy works in the following distinctly different and important areas of advocacy - they are:

Citizen Advocacy
One to one Citizen Advocacy partnerships are the bringing together of a person with a learning disability and a volunteer citizen advocate. The citizen advocates role is to speak up for their partner who may have difficulty in speaking up for themselves. Citizen advocates are ordinary members of their community with no special qualifications - but with common sense and a willingness to promote their partners rights as if they were their own.
