Meet me at the Albany
‘The kind of stereotype-smashing thing that sticks two knitting needles up at anyone who dares assume day care for older people is about flower arranging and endless cups of tea.’
Working with our collaborative partners, the Albany, Entelechy has created a unique creative arts club for isolated older people. Meet Me at the Albany is a dynamic multi-stranded arts programme responding to the increasing needs and demands of isolated older people in our communities. Working closely with adult social care and cultural teams from Lewisham Council, Entelechy and the Albany have established a weekly, year-round programme supporting the development of emerging older artists creating new contexts for the co-creation of work by established artists and older people. The programme is attracting a huge network of associate and visiting artists across a range of art forms. These include the poets and spoken word artists Simon Mole and Malika Booker, performance artist Christopher Green, vocalists Eska and Zoe Gilmour, Sculptor, Shane Waltener.
